Wawa and Access Sports Team Up to Host Wiffle Ball Classic
Access Sports, a non-profit (2002) headquartered in Philadelphia that gets tickets to sporting events for people of all ages with disabilities and at-risk youth is holding a wiffle ball tournament fundraiser Saturday, September 18 from 9-till noon, at Campbell’s Field in Camden, New Jersey.
The tournament will be named the 1st Annual Wawa Wiffle Ball Classic for Access Sports in recognition of Wawa’s event sponsorship, which covers the fee required to rent Campbell Field.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of Wawa,” said Access Sports founder, Alyson Harris. “They’ve always been committed to serving the communities they’re in and by getting involved with us (Access Sports) they are showing that they are committed to everybody in the community, including those with disabilities and hardships.”
For a registration fee of $300, teams-made up of 6 players-get to spend the morning playing for wiffle ball bragging rights and prizes on the perfectly manicured field while their supporters cheer them on. Each team also gets 12 tickets to the afternoon Riversharks game.
For Wawa-the 2010 Camden Riversharks Season Sponsor-it was an easy decision to support Access Sports.
“Wawa is very excited to be partnering with Access Sports,” said Tim O’Hara, South Jersey Area Manager for Wawa. “Wawa is very committed to giving back to the communities we serve. When Access Sports approached us about getting involved and explained that all proceeds will help benefit youth in our community, I felt this was a natural fit for Wawa. We’re proud to support this important, fun endeavor that will have such a positive impact on children in our community.”
